Victoria & Oliver’s Intimate Maidenhead Registry Office Wedding

A Maidenhead Micro-Wedding

There’s something I really love about small, intimate weddings. They’re often incredibly personal, relaxed and completely unique to the couple — and Victoria and Oliver’s wedding was a perfect example of that.

Victoria and Oliver first got in touch with me back in the spring. They were planning a very intimate wedding at Maidenhead Registry Office, with just three members of their family there to share the occasion with them.

And honestly, I love weddings like this.

There’s something rather lovely about having only the people closest to you there. No huge guest list, no pressure to spend hours moving from one group of people to another — just the two of you, the people you love most, and plenty of time to actually enjoy the day.

A little time for portraits in Marlow

After the ceremony, Victoria and Oliver wanted to spend a little time having some photographs together, and they had chosen Marlow in Buckinghamshire as the perfect place to do this.

If you’ve never been to Marlow, it’s definitely worth a visit. Sitting alongside the River Thames, it’s a beautiful little town with plenty of character, lovely walks, independent shops and some fantastic places to eat. It’s also home to restaurants associated with chef Tom Kerridge, so there’s certainly no shortage of good food!

We started with some photographs around Higgerson Park, which gave us plenty of space and a lovely backdrop for some relaxed portraits.

The thing I particularly loved was that the photographs didn’t feel like a formal photoshoot. Victoria and Oliver could simply spend some time together, walking, chatting and enjoying being newly married while I captured what was happening naturally.

From Higginson Park to dinner

After taking some photographs around the park, we headed for a short walk through Marlow towards the restaurant where Victoria and Oliver were having dinner.

It was such a lovely way to finish their wedding photography. Rather than whisking them away somewhere for a long list of formal photographs, we simply wandered through the town together and captured a few moments along the way.

There’s something really special about photographs like these because they tell more of the story. You get to see where the couple were, what they did and how the day actually felt.

And that’s exactly what I love about documentary wedding photography.

Small wedding, big memories

Victoria and Oliver’s wedding was a great reminder that your wedding day doesn’t have to be a huge affair to be incredibly meaningful.

Whether you’re getting married with 100 guests or just a handful of your favourite people, the important thing is that the day feels like you.

For me, photographing an intimate wedding like this is about being there for the little things — the smiles, the nervous moments, the laughter, the walks between places and those quiet moments when you realise, we’re actually married!

Victoria and Oliver had a wonderfully relaxed day, surrounded by the people who mattered most to them, followed by a walk around one of Buckinghamshire’s loveliest towns and dinner together.
